Started on the removal of the rotted compression post this weekend. I had gotten all the material needed to get the job done.
3 sheets of 3/4 oak plywood
1 4x4 Douglas fir post for the compression post.
Got 3 bulkheads removed and a temp brace in place. My 2 floor jack are junk and are now in the dump. I hate bottle jacks but that is what I'll be using.
Plan is to epoxy the post and the bottoms of the plywood. I'll spray stain the plywood and also spray the varnish.
In order to jack up the cabin top to remove the old post I'll have to loosen up the shrouds to release the pressure. Jacking will be slow and easy.
Had a diver dive and clean the bottom. The zink was link new but I do need a bottom job. A few blisters need to be fix. I'm thinking that since she will be on the hard just do the top side while I'm at it. Plan is around the 5th of Sept to do the haul out.
More later.
