Sanding

We took our time going to the boat this morning. Once we got there I started taking off the motor bracket and the ladder. Once they were off I got my sanders in the dinghy and started sanding the name off the stern. As I sanded the french name off another name started to show up. I guess a previous owner had named her Ladyfinger. Now Miss Sadie will have a third name.

I got all the old names off and got the first coat of paint on  the stern. .Here is one of me sanding. That french name ran all the way across the stern. Will post one later of a fresh coat of paint.

After we got the tools put up. I put the paint tray with roller in our little frig. I started working on the elec. Had some wires just wrapped  around a post on the battery. Not a very good connection of I put fittings on the ends so I could tighten them down.

Next job was to install the new deck pipe for the anchor chain and rode. I figured that the one Defender sent me was to small. Their web site said one thing and they shipped me a smaller one. I can make it work but will have to epoxy the hole closed and drill a smaller hole.

Tomorrow after we say goodby to our Canadian friends we will head to the marina and drop off the foam and material for the salon cushions. Hope to have the new cushions done and installed by next weekend. Then its off the Victoria to pick up Miss Sadie's name. Then by the Vet rep to put in a claim for my prostrate cancer. Lisa needs new tennis shoes from Academy if they have Skechers.  Then on to Lowe's for a couple of boards to do a little wood work that is needed. Got more wood work to do. Will the more lumber later.

Now back to Port Lavaca to Charlies to meet up with Wayne and Connie to make more plans about our cruise. While there I'll cut one piece of foam that I couldn't figure out how to enter the measurements on the order.

That's about it for today.

Work continues

A lot has happened since my last post. I got the sole in the cabin clean and all the glue off. Sure looks a lot better. Took a lot of scraping and lacquer thinner to wipe the balance off.  Didn't get a headache. Got the sole sanded with 80 grit and will sand again with 120 before I paint it. Not going to use Interdeck as its to hard to clean. Think I'll just use Ace Porch and Floor. This really holds up well. We'll put down throw rugs. I did purchase a green rug that looks like grass with the hopes Trixie will use it for her potty.

Ordered the exhaust elbow on Tuesday with a delivery of  7 to 10 days. Gatewood call today and the elbow is in. Rachel will pick it up for me tomorrow. I'll get it from Charlie Saturday. Plan to turn the boat around so I can sand and paint the stern for her new name. I ordered her new name Tuesday with a April 16th delivery and they called today that it is ready. I'll pick it up Monday as they are closed on Fridays. Should get her new name on Tuesday.

Yesterday we went to Hobby Lobby and found the material for the cushions. One major problem they didn't have enough. So I call Victoria Hobby Lobby and they have the balance that we need. Will pick it up tomorrow on the way home from the VA. I'll call the lady that will do the cushions Saturday as the foam will be in tomorrow.

Hope fully by next weekend cushions new name and elbow will all be done. Now we can start getting the cockpit sanded and Interdeck with non skid.

Will post photos as I get things done.  I have a special person that is planning on keeping track of our progress and adventure.

The cleaning begins.

After many delays Lisa and I finally got to the boat. She had filthy carpet glued down on the floor. All the lockers were filthy. Lisa started the cleaning as I started to get things working. Had to exchange the fresh water pump and some bad wiring. Got more of that kind of stuff to do. Here is the photos Lisa took as before pictures. The after photos will come in due time.

9.1 MPH

Now that I'm back on my notebook I can add the photo of my GPS that shows max speed of 9.1

Here is a photo of James at the helm and me just relaxing enjoying the day.

We hope to get to the boat today to start cleaning her up.
